The service

Rulebase is a punctuation reference tool with AI-powered sentence checking. It provides original rule summaries with citations to published style guides. The AI feature checks punctuation and cites relevant rules. Rules, examples, and AI accuracy are continuously reviewed and improved.

AI checks

• New users receive a small number of free AI checks.
• Additional AI check packs can be purchased for $2, $5, or $10 USD.
• Checks are approximate because usage varies by query length, image uploads, and model response length.
• Your remaining checks are tied to your IP address — there are no user accounts. If your IP address changes (e.g. switching network or VPN), your checks may not carry over. Contact us if this happens and we will restore them.
• Purchased checks do not expire.

Refunds

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us and we will issue a refund.

Bring your own key

Users may provide their own OpenAI or Anthropic API key instead of purchasing check packs. When using your own key, AI requests are billed directly by your provider. Rulebase does not charge for this usage.

Not legal or professional advice

Rulebase is a reference tool, not a substitute for professional judgement. Rule summaries are written in original language and cite published style guides, but they are not the guides themselves. While we actively refine rule content and AI behaviour based on real-world testing, AI responses may still contain errors. Always verify critical punctuation decisions against the original style guide.

Availability

Rulebase is provided as-is. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. AI features depend on third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) and their availability.

Changes

These terms may be updated occasionally. Continued use of Rulebase constitutes acceptance of any changes.
