Rulebase Summary
Capitalize all specific and proper names for historical events, wars, and recognized eras. These are treated as proper nouns.
Examples
A. My grandfather served in the revolutionary war.
A. My grandfather served in the Revolutionary War.
Specific names of wars and historical events are capitalized.
A. It happened during the Sixties.
A. It happened during the sixties.
Names of decades are not capitalized.
Transcript Notes
Do not capitalize the names of decades and centuries. Do not capitalize general age designations (atomic age, space age, etc.). Capitalize references to holy persons and historical religious events. General religious observances are typically lowercase (baptism, communion) — research the term within the specific religion.
