Period After Okay, All Right, Fine, Very Well at End of Sentence

Rulebase Summary

When 'okay,' 'all right,' 'fine,' or 'very well' is used at the end of a sentence, use a period in front of it — it stands for a complete thought on its own. It is not grammatically connected to the sentence before it.

Examples

A. I need to look at my notes before I answer that, okay.

"Okay" at the end is a separate thought — use a period.

Q. We will come back to that after lunch, all right.

"All right" at end stands alone — period before it.
